At Little Birds, we are inspired by the world renowned Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
Reggio Emilia pedagogy views young children as individuals who are curious about their world and have the powerful potential to learn from all that surrounds them.
Educational, psychological, and sociological influences are important factors to consider in understanding children and working to stimulate learning in appropriate ways.
Reggio teachers employ strategies such as exposing children to a wide variety of educational opportunities that encourage self-expression, communication, logical thinking, and problem-solving.
Combining Reggio thinking with a forest school approach gives our Little Birds a unique start to learning. Our unique setting takes little birds from the woods, to the beach and into cultural settings like art galleries and theatres.
Children work in a project based approach, where initial interests are extended and expanded to offer authentic, deep learning experiences.
We work closely with the families of our Little Birds, extending our in nursery learning into their homes.
